For the past decade we have provided the Covey Base Camp as an
effective
and efficient management tool for quail hunters and
dog trainers. This year we are
providing you with a New Design that delivers the Same
Results. This Second
Generation Base Camp has all the advantages of the
original unit, plus many additional
benefits. In fact, if you were a quail you would not
notice much difference at all. The
changes have been made " from the quail up".
This new unit is shorter – only 27 inches tall. The Top Outer
Shell (fig. A) is finished
in the latest MAX-4 High Definition camouflage, using
a dipping process that is "state
of the art". The combination of this lower profile and HD
camo offers quick and
effective concealment in virtually any geographic setting.
As with the original unit,
concealment is Essential.
Our nipple watering system is still in place at the
same height. It remains a
closed system that eliminates algae growth and evaporation.
However, its 3-gallon
reservoir is uniquely designed to fit tucked away in
a pre-molded compartment located
in the base of the structure (fig. D).
The new Base Camp feeder consists of a 5-gallon steel
container with a locking
lid (fig. C). Inside this container is a plastic liner
which prevents condensation from
spoiling the feed (fig. B). The feeder still restricts
cotton rats and field mice from
accessing the feed and has a shielded metal base for
a squirrel guard just in case.
To service the new system, you simply pull off the outer shell and pour water
into the filler hole located on the base rim. Next remove the lock lid from
the steel feeder reservoir and fill it up with your wheat or milo.
Replace
the lid and outer shell. That’s it. This larger capacity system means
you can go a longer time between servicing. All these advantages will be offered
at a price comparable to the original system.
