For over 15 years we have provided the Covey Base Camp quail feeder and watering system as an effective and efficient management tool for quail hunters and bird dog trainers. The Base Camp is made up of two main components. The first part consists of a quail feeder and watering system known as a Covey Coop. The second part is an electronic quail caller known as a Total Recall.
The Coop or electronic call bird can either be purchased together as a Covey Base Camp , or as separate items.

The Anatomy of a Covey Coop Quail Feeder

This unit stands 27 inches tall and is 2 feet in diameter.
The Top Outer Shell (fig. A) is available in either Natural Brown
or High Definition camouflage.
This design offers quick set up and easy concealment in virtually any geographic setting.

The base (fig. D) is designed with a skirt that helps shield the movement of feeding quail from any near by predators. The skirt also tends to greatly reduce the use of the feeder by song birds.
A 3 gallon nipple watering system is tucked away in a separate compartment located up under the base. This is a closed system that prevents both evaporation and algae growth, thus a little water will go a long way in servicing quail during periods of seasonal drought.

The Coop feeder consists of a 5-gallon steel container with a locking lid (fig. C).
Inside the steel container is a plastic liner which prevents condensation from spoiling the feed (fig. B).
The bottom of the liner has a shielded metal base that extends through the bottom of the container. The container is then filled with a small whole grain such as feed wheat, sorghum, or milo (not whole corn or commercial crumble feed).
This design provides a suspended food source that is readily available to quail, but very restrictive to small rodents like field mice and cotton rats.

To service the Coop you simply pull off the outer shell and pour water into the filler hole located on the base rim. Next remove the lock lid from the steel feeder reservoir and fill it up with wheat or milo.
Replace the lid and outer shell. That's it.
The efficiency of Covey Coop quail feeder means that you can go a longer time between servicing.
